It’s been a while since my last post, as you can probably tell. The main reason is that I’m a busy mom. That’s it. I don’t have time to blog much at this stage. I don’t know why I thought I could. Right now, Aiden and Terra are at school, and Eve is napping. Of course this time of day comes around most weekdays, but usually I’m wading through piles of dirty laundry and cleaning the house. I do have a load of laundry in, but other than that, I feel free as a bird. It’s quite rare.
I realize that all of this may sound like I’m complaining, but that’s not how I intend it at all. I love my kids. I’m just…explaining, for those who may not understand. I would give up all of my freedoms if it was a choice between that or my children. They are my everything, my light, my life, my joy. And I never knew just how frustrated I could be without blowing up until I had kids. They taught me patience. So much patience.
Anyway, I’ll get to the point of this blog. This past weekend, my husband and I took the kids to the little park around the corner from our house. It was a rare, warm weekend in January (though it seems to be much warmer than usual these days…), so we thought we would enjoy the sunshine.
Aiden and Terra were playing on the merry-go-round with me while Mark pushed Eve on the little swing. Everyone was having a wonderful time. We took a lot of pictures of our laughing children. It was fabulous.
Until Aiden fell off of the merry-go-round. And broke his arm. Or course. I always feel like a bad mom when things happen to my kids. My heart stopped. I was terrified and horrified and guilty and about 26 different emotions all at once. We rushed him to the ER, and he got his cast. The whole ordeal took more than 4 and a half hours. With small children, this is not ideal. Luckily my husband took the girls home so I could stay with Aiden. I wasn’t willing to leave him.
So, on a day that should have been perfect and full of family togetherness and fun, we collected one broken bone, nearly 5 hours in the ER, and a heck of a hospital bill. Aiden loves his cast though. All of his classmates scrawled their names all over it. One little girl drew hearts everywhere. Apparently, she is his “girlfriend.” I’m stifling a chuckle here. I might have to write a post about his little friend before too long. Adeline is quite the flirt, I hear. And has three other boyfriends, according to Aiden. God help her.
